Clogging up the Web

Macromedia launched ColdFusion MX 7 a few days ago. I installed it to test some existing applications that I developed and I have yet to find an issue.

Reports generation in MX 7 (Enterprise Edition only) looks impressive and charting looks much improved. I am currently developing some charts for MailGuard v2.0 and the difference between MX 6.1 and MX 7 is a marked one, with Flash charts displayed impressively. Even the way the charts are rendered is impressive with each series on the chart ‘growing’ in turn (e.g. bars rise up). It all looks very slick.

I look forward to discovering more about MX 7. I will wait, however, for feedback from the ColdFusion ‘community’ about it’s stability in a shared hosting environment before putting it live in our production hosting environment. If MX 7 is completely backward compatible with all MX 6.1 applications, I expect our hosting customers to be very happy with it.
